Vineyard
Taylor Vineyard is one of the oldest Zinfandel vineyards in Sonoma. Their warm hillside site combines well-drained gravelly soils with 100-year-old vines planted to the original Dry Creek Clone.

Vintage
For the most part, 1999 was a cool and dry season, with much less warm weather than normal. Extra effort was taken in the vineyard to ensure that the fruit fully ripened including; judicious irrigation to control growth and maintain uniformity and cluster thinning to promote ripening. Late September gave us the heat spell we needed to begin harvest, which went very quickly and was effectively over by the third week in October.

Vinification
This small lot was fermented slowly Pump overs were monitored closely to balance flavors and tannins. The wine was aged for 17 months in French and American oak to build complexity and middle mouthfeel. The wine was bottled on May 24, 2001. Alcohol 15.5%, total acidity .60, pH 3.64. residual sugar .12.

Tasting Notes
This is a big, round, classic Zinfandel, showing plush, red-berry fruit, dense structure and a lengthy oak and tannin finish. Drink now or cellar up to 5 years.
