Vineyard
Taylor Vineyard is one of the oldest Zinfandel vineyards in Sonoma. Their warm hillside site combines well-drained gravelly soils with 100-year-old vines planted to the original Dry Creek Clone.

Vintage
Vintage 2002 started with a cool spring and finished with a mild summer without rain or excessive heat. In the vineyard, shoot and crop thinning help the grapes achieve maximum hang time to reach optimal flavor development producing rich ripe wines with great intensity and structure. Grapes for this wine were picked September 16th.

Vinification
The grapes were crushed into a closed top fermenter. Fermented on skins for 15 days allowing the wine’s flavors and vitality to develop before being pressed for maximum flavor extraction and to harmonized the tight-grained tannins. 18 months in French oak barrels added roundness and complexity. Our 2002 Taylor Zinfandel was bottled in March 2004. Alcohol 14.5%, total acidity .60, pH 3.72, R.S .13%.

Tasting Notes
An outstanding Zinfandel from 100 year old vines. It is full bodied, intensely fruity (redolent of boysenberry, blackberry, and plum), smooth and long on the palate, and lightly oaky on the finish.
