Vineyard
Taylor Vineyard is one of the oldest Zinfandel vineyards in Sonoma. Their warm hillside site combines well-drained gravelly soils with 100-year-old vines planted to the original Dry Creek Clone.

Vintage
Vintage 2000 provided us with excellent fruit. The growing season began with the warmest winter on record, which gave way to a very warm spring punctuated by a record heat spell in mid June. The warm weather moved us two to three weeks ahead of schedule. A more temperate summer followed, allowing the grapes to ripen evenly. The long, drawn out harvest yielded extremely high quality fruit giving us wine with tremendous body and texture.

Vinification
This small lot was fermented slowly. Pump overs were monitored closely to balance flavors and tannins. The wine was aged for 17 months in French and American oak to build complexity and middle mouthfeel. The wine was bottled on May 2, 2002. Alcohol 14.5%, Total acidity .60, pH 3.68. Residual sugar .14.

Tasting Notes
This is a big, round, classic Zinfandel, showing plush black cherry, raspberry and flavors of bramble, dense structure and a lengthy oak and tannin finish. Drink now or cellar up to 5 years.
