Sangiovese is one of the most versatile food pairing wines due to its soft tannins that balance well with its lean acidic backbone. The 2011 vintage is richly layered in black cherry, ripe fruit and earthy elements of toast and dried herbs.
The 2011 has a foundation of Sangiovese (50%) for rustic red fruit flavors and earthy aromas. Cabernet Sauvignon (24%)and Cabernet Franc (7%) add structure and color to the wine, with Malbec (9%) and Merlot (10%) providing lush, rich tannins and depth.
Joe described this 2009 vintage as a Syrah for “the French wine lovers." Rich plum and red raspberry flavors on the front compete for attention from the blueberry finish. This wine has a sturdy structure. Decant before serving to soften the tannins and allow the fruit flavors to come forward.
