Here are our swatches - the out of the ordinary, sometimes overlooked, varietals that make up Imagery's artistic palate- whites, reds, and...

Whites

Muscato di Canelli: In France, Muscat is frequently blended with other white grapes in vins doux naturels wines. The fruit in our wine comes from Bartolucci Vineyard in Lake County, where vines are farmed organically.
Pinot Gris: Thought to be a relative of Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris grape clusters typically grow in a tight pinecone shape and normally are a grayish-blue, hence the ‘gris’ in the name.
White Burgundy: A blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Menuier, this wine has the body and weight of a Chardonnay with a refreshing light fruitness.
WOW Oui (Sauvignon Blanc): Believed to be one of the parents of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc in native to the Bordeaux region. In Wow Oui, Sauvignon Blanc and just a kiss of Muscat combine to make a bright, fresh wine.
Viognier: A warm weather vine, Viognier historically had major plantings in the Condrieu and Languedoc regions and now in prestigious appellations in California.

Reds

Barbera: A dynamic and versatile grape variety, Barbera is referred to as the "people's wine" in its native Piedmont region. It is known, in particular, for its deep ruby color, full body and approachable tannins.
Cabernet Franc: One of the classic Bordeaux varietals, Cabernet Franc is most often used as a blending grape to add interest and to compliment Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot based wines.
Cabernet Sauvignon: One of the world's most widely recognized red wine grape varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon is grown in nearly every major wine producing country. Cabernet Sauvignon became internationally recognized through its prominence in Bordeaux wines.
Cinsault (pronounced "san-so") is a red wine grape, whose heat tolerance and productivity make it important in Languedoc-Roussillon and the former French colonies of Algeria and Morocco. It is often blended with grapes such as Grenache and Carignane to add softness and bouquet.
Grenache: Grenache may have originated in Spain, probably in Aragon or Catalonia, but has since spread over the Pyrenees into southern France and the rest of the Mediterranean.
Lagrein: A little known red wine varietal native to northwestern Italy's Trentino region. Relatively rare, even in Italy, in California it is almost non-existent: fewer than 100 producing acres are currently planted.
Malbec: Another one of the classic red Bordeaux grapes, Malbec is an early ripener that yields soft wines of low acidity, moderate tannins, good color and fruit flavors reminiscent of blueberries.
Merlot: A classic red Bordeaux varietal, and one of the most widely known grapes, Merlot is produced on its own and as a blending agent.
Mourvèdre: The name Mourvèdre (sometimes called Mataro) is believed to have come from the towns of Mataró in Cataluña and Murviedro near Valencia.
Petite Sirah: Petite Sirah has a somewhat mysterious lineage. DNA testing in the early 1990's suggested it was actually related to famed Rhone varietal Syrah. Either way, its tasty.
Petite Verdot: This grape's thick-skin produces intensely flavored and tannic wines. It is predominantly used in Meritage blends to add color, structure and flavor.
Sangiovese: An ancient varietal indigenous to the Tuscany region, Sangiovese is Italy's most planted grape variety and the base for Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and most of the Super Tuscans.
Tempranillo: A native of Spain and a major red wine grape in the Ribera del Duero and the Rioja Alta, Tempranillo is sparsely planted and rarely produced as a single varietal.
Zinfandel: DNA fingerprinting revealed that it is genetically equivalent to the Croatian grape Crljenak Kaštelanski, and also the Primitivo variety traditionally grown in the 'heel' of Italy (Puglia).
