Vintage
Vintage 2003 started with a cold spring and finished with a cool summer with a couple of heat spikes. In the vineyard, shoot and crop thinning help the grapes achieve maximum hang time to reach optimal flavor development. Grapes for this wine were picked September 18th.

Vinification
The lot for this 2003 was crushed to a fermentation tank and a small amount of beautiful pink juice was drained to a small tank. The juice was cold fermented to dryness to preserve the crisp acidity and aromatic fruit character. After fermentation, the wine was blended with a small amount of Muscat Canelli for floral character and mouth feel. This wine was bottled in January 2004. Alcohol: 13.5%, TA .56, pH 3.39, Residual sugar .74.

Tasting Notes
California Rose has never been better. This one, from Ricci Vineyard, is nearly dry, full bodied, and delicately flavored, tasting of watermelon, plum and rose petal, with a long finish. Serve with grilled chicken, pork chops, honey baked ham, or grilled fish with tomato salsa.
